Edition No. 1 ~ Team Visions
Welcome to our first EVER Brand Team Newsletter! Thank you for sharing your thoughts this week, and as mentioned in the form you submitted— this is where we will stay up to date on our work as a team in between our meetings every 2 weeks :)
Lindsay and I just returned from a Student-Made WORLD TOUR… around the Carolinas… and we’ll have lots of updates to share in our next meeting (and in next week’s Reflection Form!)
Overall, Communication was the overarching theme agreed upon for improving Student-Made across all our campuses. This means clear goals & objectives being outlined and effectively communicated between each of the following…
Creative Committee → Artists
Creative Committee → Creative Committee
Artists → Artists
Community was also a major theme specified— as feeling engaged and personally invested as a member of this community was said to be lacking— both for our Managers & our Artists.
Our mission can be great, but everyone has to feel ENERGIZED about it (to use Lindsay’s word), and involved in the right way if we are going to see great outcomes.
So, (learning from this feedback), our Brand Team Newsletter is intended to encourage open & honest communication around our goals— to ensure we’re all on the same page, and moving forward “cohesively,” to steal Elle’s word of the week :)
Going forward, please do provide as honest & detailed responses as you feel necessary to fuel our continuous improvement. We want this to be a rockin’ culture for us to be part of!!
Without Further Ado… Our Team ‘Vision’ Responses
What worked well & felt good from your work over the last 2 weeks?

“My ideal vision is to be able to carve out a chunk of time to crack down on working on graphics for the instagram, further refining the brand palette, and creating a mood board of what I want everything to look like going forward. I'm feeling very good about my role, I just need my exams to be over so I can start working on it.” - Elle

“My vision for the next 2 weeks is to better understand my role and how it works together with the Brand Team.I'm feeling a little lost as to what specifically I should be doing outside of my tasks.” - Grace

“My vision is to start taking some major steps toward creating the culture/atmosphere we want for being part of Student-Made. I know I personally work best when I have everything super clear and mapped out in my head, knowing that everything I’m doing has its purpose. So, I want to help establish a habit of that through the right communication methods for ALL members of SM.” -Ryan
What’s One Crazy Awesome Outcome You’d Love to See From Your Work?

“My main tasks that I'd like to focus on are creating a mood board for the brand, and continuing to work on the merchandise designs.”

“Creating a summer posting schedule- outlining the focus/goals of my role for the summer”

“I want to make sure I have a meeting with sponsors by the end of May!”

“Research more partners, reach out and plan more giveaways to continue growing our following. I will also map out the goals for the team for the entire summer so we are prepared for fall!”

“Complete an outlined structure for great communication between our Brand Team, Creative Committees/Success Managers, & Artists. Specifically, I want to have a newsletter format that communicates updates, success stories,, major focuses, progress, goals, challenges, etc for all these groups. Along with a fun & engaging way for us all to regularly be sharing these things.”

“I hope to see engagement rise across everyone who’s involved in SM— and get the feeling that people are on the same page, and motivated to have a great next semester. I hate feeling like people aren’t being engaged/ communicated to as much as they should be. People energy is our biggest weapon!”
What didn't work well/feel good over the last 2 weeks? What’s one failure you had, and what did you learn from it?

“Getting time to work on all of my tasks, just because there's a lot going on regarding exams and everything.”

“Time restraints due to being busy with the semester ending- being unsure if I understand exactly all the points the brand is hoping to hit as far as the vision for the Instagram goes.”

“I think maybe getting on a zoom call with content creators. It’s sometimes hard to balance all of our schedules.”

“I have been short on time with a lot of things! So I want to carve out time specially for this.”

“Biggest challenge will probably be establishing this regular routine for all our communications/ engagements. There might be some lag time in making this consistent, since people aren’t used to it yet. But it’ll be a work in progress! I also need to make sure I stick to my own diligent schedule with this :) “
