COMMUNITY STORIES: CALLA YEARTA-SOTHERN

I have been interested in business and entrepreneurship for as long as I can remember, but global business and international trade is a subject I became particularly interested in during the pandemic.

Being exposed to the repercussions of the global supply chain’s dysfunction made me want to learn more about global cooperation from a business standpoint.

My interest in the nuances and complexities of international business has only grown during my time as an ASU student, and I’m hoping to go on to obtain a Masters in Global Management through Thunderbird.

Being the social media manager of a relatively new account definitely has a learning curve. I’m an extremely competitive, results-driven person at heart, so not seeing the numbers I want instantly is something that was disheartening to me at first.

Remembering the long-term nature of social media and building brand recognition is something that has allowed me to move past the discomfort of not immediately being the best or most knowledgeable at something.

Now, I'm focusing on acquiring the skills and insights that will inform our strategy at Student-Made ASU in the future. I know that the journey to excellence takes time.

Being able to serve in a manager role in the inaugural year of Student-Made ASU is an opportunity I am so grateful for!

My dream career involves establishing brand presence in emerging markets, and in many ways, I feel that working to establish Student-Made at ASU aligns with this goal.

In a community as large and vibrant as Arizona State, I feel confident that this experience will go on to benefit me in my future endeavors.

Submit the form in your Resource Portal to let us know your interest in sharing your journey with our Student-Made community— whether you’re a Creator or Manager! We’ll be in touch with you soon about helping you craft your inspiring story.
