LINDSAY’S SEPTEMBER LETTER: FINDING GRATITUDE IN BUSY SEASONS

Until… Before you know it it’s late August and the first day of classes is around the corner and you’re like…

As soon as the Spring Semester ends we start by reflecting and outlining all of the projects that we want to complete before the upcoming semester

And it feels like we have endless time to get it done

In this season it feels like there is time to think long and hard about what we’ve done, what we want to do, and how we want to grow.

And we’re thrown right back in. No more planning, no more prepping, just go time.

This couldn’t possibly feel more close to home for me considering I could barely find time to write this letter, which was supposed to be finished two weeks ago.

Like you’ve abruptly exited the slow-paced lifestyle of summer and were rocket-launched into the fast-paced lifestyle that comes with being a full-time student, on top of all of the other things you have going on?

And is probably the most difficult to manage.

You’re just getting started with classes, your extracurricular commitments start ramping up, and of course fun, social activities are at an all-time high.

It’s a lot! And that can be overwhelming.

But, I am writing this letter to remind you (and myself) that you can find joy and peace in these times that feel chaotic and overwhelming.

Just like there’s beauty in a simple, slow day where you feel like you have all the time in the world.

Step back and be grateful to have so much going on.

To be engaged in so much, to be energized by so much, and most importantly to feel inspired to get involved

Before you know it, you’ll be back in a place that feels as slow and effortless as summer.
