PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT: FALL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS + SUCCESS STORY

Happy Spring, Student-Made Community!

Well, Spring semester at least… maybe not the temperatures.

Fall Semester 2023 is under our belts, and the stage your campus is in with Student-Made is super exciting! Whether just recently launched or well-established– there are incredibly special new things happening everyday. We’re excited to show you what we mean… enjoy!

Speaking of exciting happenings… Michigan State University & The Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation achieved quite an impressive Success Story this Fall, and here’s a preview directly from Lori Fischer, MSU’s Director for Student-Made.

I have worked on establishing entrepreneurial programming at MSU since the program’s inception in September 2012, and each day brings new challenges that motivate me to create opportunities and programming for our students.

Our Student Made Events & Partnerships manager, Yuktha Pulavarthi, (first-year Hospitality major) researched potential collaborations across campus and arranged a meeting with the managers of our campus markets.

The culinary services team was impressed with Yuktha’s presentation and excited to support student creators.

It has been a dream of MSU creators to have their products in a physical store, and our Student-Made partnership helped make this possible!

The two retail locations are very popular spots on campus — which has given us much exposure to other student organizations. Now, more organizations want to collaborate with Student Made MSU!

The market managers are amazed at the success of our sales and love that students are purchasing from students and supporting our entrepreneurial community.

We are inspired to continue growing the markets and making them a permanent partnership for years to come.

Every creative, driven student founder that joins Student-Made on your campus is helping expanding our original mission:

Growing our creator base is a main goal, of course– but we are not losing sight of the special journeys brought to this community by each one of them— which is why we’re shining a spotlight to share these stories far and wide, and making sure your social media managers keep up the promotion!

We love teaming up with our campus partners to serve student creators– but our engagement doesn’t stop there! It extends to a whole other group of students… managers who are getting great real-world experience in a startup environment. Plus, they’re helping advance the success our program like we never imagined!

Of course to make our desired impact, our engagement has to reach far beyond our Creators and Managers. We’re bringing the whole campus community into our mission – on campus and beyond!

With a strong community being core to our mission— we are innovating better ways for our creators and managers to connect with each other. Flare features will include product-specific creator chats, manager contacts for easier access, event signup & calendar, and more!

Our first Historically Black College is joining the network, and we’re so thrilled to introduce you to the Student-Made Benedict site!

The partnership we have been able to forge with your unique campus has been a spark further igniting our mission– and we want to thank YOU for allowing us to be on such a rewarding journey.

As founders with much growing still to do still, we relate to your student founders we get to work with everyday. And we’re committed to taking full advantage of the potential.
